Varcle uses the interaction of AR tasks with paper based individual worksheets, where pupils complete linked tasks and activities to demonstrate their understanding of the National Curriculum outcome, this can then be traffic light assessed by the teacher, to ensure individual pupil progress.
Augmented reality (AR) technology creates a combined view for the user that consists of real scenes and computer-generated scenes with additional information about the object/subject and or place and can provide different layers of learning.
Markers based AR works by the Varcle app recognising a specific pattern or image called a ‘trigger’ on the worksheet. When a devices camera recognises a trigger image, it creates a digital experience on screen.
We have created various experiences covering the National Curriculum.
Scan the sheet using your tablet, phone or smart device with AR technology that is provided and the experience comes to life with the content. The user follows the various direction and layers completing the worksheet. Teaching staff are able to make notes and snapshot assessment through a traffic light system.
This initiative is supporting Varcle to work alongside researchers at UCL’s London Knowledge Lab to use research evidence to inform the design of our product, to ensure that it has the greatest impact on learning.
